Pre-event massage
A pre-event massage is a short, specific treatment given immediately before (30 minutes- 24 hours before) a sports event. The goal of sports massage is to increase neuromuscular facilitation and promote circulation, flexibility and mental clarity to improve your performance. It is important to note that a pre-event sports massage does not replace your warm up, but complements it.
The amount and depth of treatment is the most important key to effective pre-event massage. Deep tissue work is usually contraindicated during a pre-event massage as it may cause too much of an increase in flexibility and it may interfere with your muscle timing and strength.

massage is a restorative session that should be performed as soon as possible after a competition event, in order to help reduce the amount of recovery time needed by the athlete. The post-event massage is designed to aid the athlete in recovering from the activity; reduce
post-exercise soreness and re-establish range of motion and blood flow to
tight muscles. It also can give the athlete a big psychological lift.
Before administering the massage, it important for the athlete to rehydrate prior to treatment.
